vanilla sugar

please, please tell me you don’t throw out vanilla bean pods when you’ve finished scraping out the seeds for a recipe. please tell me you don’t.

oh, lord. what am i going to do with you?

from this point on, you must promise me you won’t let all that delicious vanilla goodness go to waste! promise? okay. good. deal.

now, because you listen so well, i have a treat for you:

vanilla sugar

you need:

  • scraped vanilla bean
  • granulated sugar
  • container

fill the container with sugar (a few cups is good.) place the vanilla bean on top of the sugar, put on the lid and shake. put the container of sugar away for a few days - like magic it will turn into delicious vanilla sugar! and once you’ve used up the few cups you made, you can do the same process all over again! repeat until you notice the bean is no longer imparting its delicious vanilla essence into the sugar.

never again. never again will you throw out a perfectly good vanilla bean, okay? good.

dinner time. lunch time. snack time.
i love food all the time. thankfully, i have a job that involves food.
which is fun. and amazing.

i’m a baker, and i own a bakery. i love to eat, and i love to cook - most importantly i love to share food with others.

and that’s what sprinklefingers is for - to share my food thoughts and dreams and wishes with you.

right now i’m wishing dinner was ready.
