about

you’ve found sprinklefingers!
your kitchen will never be the same…i promise.

sprinklefingers is written, researched and loved by jami curl - owner of saint cupcake - a little bakery in drizzly portland, oregon.

sprinklefingers has a few simple goals:

  1. to prove that you can replace a lot of the processed foods you buy with food you make yourself.
  2. to prove that your freezer is the most underutilized kitchen tool you possess.
  3. to prove that the combination of meal planning, making your own food & canning it OR stowing it away in your magical freezer will make you a happier, healthier, smarter and more magical person. (okay, maybe that’s pushing it a little bit. but you WILL learn that cooking food yourself & freezing it when you can will save you more money & time than you ever imagined. honest.)

of course it’s not ALL about making things now to eat later - there’s lots of other interesting bits sprinkled in here & there: food science, experiments, internet findings and more.

don’t worry, i don’t expect you to be as nerdy as i am about baking your own english muffins and crackers - but if you’ve made it this far, i’m going to take a guess and say you’re at least interested - and that’s enough for me.

one note: this is not a photography blog. you know how some of your favorite cookbooks only feature photos of a few of the dishes within? that’s what sprinklefingers is like. besides, i cook to eat…i don’t cook to photograph it.

dinner time. lunch time. snack time.
i love food all the time. thankfully, i have a job that involves food.
which is fun. and amazing.

i’m a baker, and i own a bakery. i love to eat, and i love to cook - most importantly i love to share food with others.

and that’s what sprinklefingers is for - to share my food thoughts and dreams and wishes with you.

right now i’m wishing dinner was ready.
